We cannot afford a life without Jesus.

Sure,

We have free will and can choose to  live a life without him but not only will that be costly in this lifetime but eternity as well. The word says "That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue will confess Jesus is Lord"  Philippians 2:10-11.  We are nothing but the creation of the sovereign creator and so when we choose to go astray and do our own will in this life - it backfires on us. There's wisdom, principles, knowledge, revelation, and a spirit set in place and to yield to in this life but when we ignore those very things that come from our creator we cause so much dysfunction and invite so much havoc in our personal lives. We are not bigger than the program no matter how much we'd like to convince ourselves that , it just simply will never be such a thing. The evil that inheres in the spirit realm is banking on us to be ignorant and not be in oneness with God. They're banking on you living a life not doing what the one and true mighty God instructed you to do to live a prosperous life and  to not be overcame by the evil that simply exists.  When we dictate our lives wholeheartedly (without having God in our foundation) we become spiritually poor people, we invite harm our way, we become bound to detrimental habits, we become deprived of our identity, we never have a true upward spiral in life, we tolerate or engage in constant foolishness, we treat other people terribly, and we have no true liberation or satisfaction with our lives.

It is the Lord that gives life and life more abundantly (John 10:10). It is the Lord that keeps us safe (Proverbs 18:10). It is the Lord that exalts and prospers a nation based off the collective righteousness (Proverbs 14:34). It is the Lord that changes the heart of powerful people to be in your favor (Proverbs 21:1). It is the Lord that gives increase (1 Corinthians 3:5-8). It is the Lord that adds all your desires + needs to your life (Matthew 6:33). It is the Lord that gives us strength in this life (Philippians 4:13). It is the Lord that fights for us (Exodus 14:14). It is the Lord that makes sure we don't lack (Psalm 23). It is the Lord that gives us authority to win against evil  and generational doom(Luke 10:19). It is the Lord that gives us the power to move mountains (Mark 11:23-24). It is the Lord that is the gateway to eternity with God (John 14:6). Therefore, we ought to want a life with him and dedicate everything we do unto him.
